Publicans is a cozy little bar located on Plandome road that was immortalized in the novel The Tender Bar by J. R. Moehringer.  This bar had opened in 1977 and was a hub of social life for the community. It was the place, where the hardworking patrons of the commuter town of Manhasset would come and unwind. It was recently re-opened in the February of 2017. Although the original exterior is different, the same idea of community togetherness is still alive.
